The load limit controller is a flexible solution for protecting the diesel engine against overload. The entire controller behavior can be adapted to the machine.

The load limit controller is a flexible solution for protecting the diesel engine against overload. The entire controller behavior can be adapted to the machine.

Limit load control allows a machine to be developed leaner and used more effectively. Load limit controllers in excavators also contribute efficiently to vibration suppression in the drivetrain.

The standard hardware platform for the VPP is the HCB controller. The speed of the diesel engine is variably adjusted via the control system using the CAN bus (SAE J1939 protocol). The controller reads the actual speed of the diesel engine via CAN bus, terminal W or magnetic pick-up, evaluates the pressure and – depending on its utilization – limits the hydraulic pump directly via the proportional output.

This load limit controller has been specially developed for excavator applications where very high dynamic control behavior is required. Load limit controllers in general are an integral part of many Völkel control systems: For example, they are a component of every drive control system, but also of many machine control systems in which the power consumption per actuator and working situation is prioritized in some cases. Compared to such integrated load limit controllers, the DAS is highly dynamic.
